When an old friend of mine from back in high school (Oh how long ago that was!) reached out earlier this fall to see if I would shoot a generations lifestyle shoot with her mother and grandmother, I was ecstatic. She wanted to capture them playing games, chatting, and baking together, some of her favorite memories she's had with her grandmother over the years in the house she spent so much time in growing up. We set up a date prior to Christmas so she could have the images by then. This was such a special and unique session for me to shoot and I am so happy that I was able to document some of their time together having fun, laughing, and some of those priceless detail shots (I LOVE hands shots to tell the story as you can see in the images below!)I know the whole family will cherish forever.
When I arrived, my friend's grandmother talked about how she makes blankets for the hospital and then showed us how she goes about making small quilts for patients there. I also got to hear some beautiful piano music she played, while my friend and her mother set the table with china so they could have some images of what the table looks like when everyone is coming over for a holiday. By the end of it, we were all laughing with her looking at the full table without food saying, "well this is gotten out of hand." After clearing the table, they set up in the kitchen to bake a pie using a new pie dish that my friend purchased for the session, but also some of the measuring and baking tools that her grandmother always uses. From memory (and so quickly!) she whipped up a pie shell and they filled it with pumpkin pie. We ended the session with some more portrait style shots which just turned into everyone laughing at each other. I adored this session so much and had so much fun with them!
